About

Bob Butterworth joined the firm of Walker West Longo LLP as Counsel on May 1, 2014. He was a Vice-Chair of the Assessment Review Board (ARB) from 2002 until April 2014, following 30 years in the practice of law in the Town of Perth.

Bob was also a part time member of the ARB from 1997 to 2002. He has been a frequent presenter at training programs in assessment and in adjudication offered by the ARB, the Environment and Land Tribunals Ontario, the Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators (SOAR), the Council of Canadian Administrative Tribunals (CCAT), the Osgoode Professional Development Centre (York University) and the International Property Tax Institute (IPTI).

He has also presented at programs offered by the County of Lanark Law Association, the Carleton County Law Association and the Ministry of Natural

Resources. An active life long volunteer, he has served as a member and Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors at Trent University, a Director of SOAR, member and Chair of the Board of Governors of Algonquin College, Councilor of the Township of North Elmsley, member and Chair of the Town of Perth Planning Board, Chair of the Committee of Adjustment for the Township of North Elmsley, member of the Ontario Council of Health and member and Chair of the Rideau Valley District Health Council.

Bob is a past President of the County of Lanark Law Association. He received a Bicentennial Medal in 1984 from the Ontario Government in recognition of his volunteer service. Bob was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 1984 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Patrick’s College and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia.
